Pflueger Supreme Xt

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I have a 9230XT Supreme that I rarely use, but it seems to have a click at the top of the wind.  Meaning, when the spool is at its farthest point out.  Anyone else had a problem with theirs and this noise, or any ideas what it could be?

I baby my reels, this one still looks brand new, oil it twice a year, she stays inside in a closet on the rod with no abuse.

Thank you

Wdy

I own 3 pflueger spinning reels and they are all quiet and smooth as butter. Maybe you have a defective reel or something happened to it that you are unaware of.

Nothing but the best from Pfluegs in my experience.

Wdy,

You can try pulling the spool and see if you still hear or feel anything. If so, it will have to be opened up for further inspection. Let me know if you need anything.

More than likely it’s not a functional problem. Since you are hearing the noise when the spool is at its farthest point it is probably caused by the spool shifting directions and the change in momentum. I have heard this on several spinning reel for an assortment of manufactures over the years but it’s never turned into something not working for me. It is louder on some reels and is more noticeable on quite days or when fineness I have found. You can enhance the noise temporally by pushing down on the spool slightly as you wind the handle. When the spool changes direction you will hear a louder click from the added pressure. I have a feeling this is what you are experiencing.

I'd send it to Pure Fishing, good chance they fix it for free or replace it, they usually pay the shipping back too.

Ugh, (Face Palm!!!)

Mike,

I love your work you did on my Cuardos, but hopefully Pure Fishing can either discount of make it up to me!  I really love this reel!  I was thinking about replacing it with the new Lews Gold Spinning one, but I think I just got a dud here.

Thanks everyone!
