Did any of you get the 2011 Master Catalog yet? If not it should be out soon, I think.

I got mine last year on December 28. Should be soon...

Just as important as getting the catalog is to keep watching the BPS web-site for any clearance deals that wouldn't show in the catalog.

Got It yesterday

Notice anything new yet?  More Carbonlite BC reel ratios perhaps?

If you are in a rush to see something new it will be online before their waste of trees they send out like 4 times a year.

so you need like 400 pages to see maybe 2 pages of new products?

Didn't check that but noticed new Bionic Blade style. Looks more like Vendetta. Bass Pro doesn't carry the Vengence series tho. They also stop carrying Yum Zellamanders i think.

BPS is being tight with their site this year.  Normally by the middle of December they have all the new stuff posted but not this year.

I have a feeling that somethings up - perhaps more new product lines and product changes this year. The way that they're blowing out the Johnny Morris BC reel line seems to indicate that they may be introducing a new line placed above the CLs and PQ BC reels. Perhaps another split-grip rod series placed above the Carbonlites. Let's see...

How can you guys get so excited about toilet paper ?

I thought for sure we would have the first BPS basher by the 5th or 6th post on this thread - we made it all the way to the 11th... ::D

I haven't received mine yet either. I have received dozens of fliers over the course of the year. I must be on the list... My wife says for all they spend on material and postage, they should send me something to fish with; it wouldn't cost any more, and it would be more effective. She might be right, but I do like having reading material in my "study." :D

Me too! BPS has both my street address, and my PO Box, so I often get two of everything thus have one copy for the "reading room" and another for my den/office. ;D

They DO overdo it though - did we really need THREE different Christmas catalogs? Plus, were I them, I would send the Saltwater "Offshore" catalog to the states along the coasts, and not the landlocked states (although I guess the Muskie guys use some of that big tackle... :;) ).

They have a new Johnny Morris bait caster its now black and they say improved, also only $159

A new carbon black mag spool bait caster

All new Johnny Morris rods, Signature series $139 and Carbon Black series for $119.  The signature series looks like and upgraded Carbonlite rod.

A new Enigma smart cast reel, hideous looking

Carbonlite rods now have micro guides, a couple new rods and they now list a left handed Carbonlite bait caster.

Thats all I have really sen so far.

Later, :D

Really goose  , you don't know what bashing is.

  • Super User

Grey Wolf I suspect he knows what bashing is. He certainly knows what a thoughtful and relevant comment is. This is not a characteristic shared by all...

Hmmm - I wonder if this thread had been about receiving the new Shimano catalog, and someone had called it toilet paper, what the response would be... ::o:D

Don't fall off your box fellas.

Don't fall off your box fellas.

I didn't realize that anyone on this thread was on a soap box. A bunch of folks were having a conversation about a new catalog and someone came along and tried to take the thread down into the toilet... :-/

Lighten up fella's for the love of God.

I used to be excited for the upcoming BPS catalogs but I'm just not that impressed anymore with BPS & Cabelas. I try to buy as much from local tackle shops as I can because I believe it's important to support local business when it's practical and also D&R sports in Kalamazoo,MI is a terrific tackle shop. That said when I need to order most of biz is going to Tackle Whse, Bass Tackle Depot & Ichiban Tackle. Also I'm ordering direct for some items from Northstar Jigs, Matt's lures etc. which doesn't leave much left for BPS & Cabela's. I do order a few house brand lures from BPS like the RC cranks for example but that's been about it the last couple of years, I'm also turned off by the fact that the more you spend the more they charge for shipping and frankly their selection is no longer that impressive.

I'm not sure I get excited about the new catalogs, but it is interesting to see what they come out with every year. And, like we discussed earlier, it's nice to have a hard-copy catalog to browse when you're not on your computer.

I get baits and other stuff at TW. I get some consumables like soft plastics at WallyWorld. What I mostly get at BPS are the house-branded items, and I usually wait for the clearance or sale prices, then try to throw in a $20-off coupon or get a free shipping code. Regarding their shipping - I sure wish they would improve that for sure. Some places I order from have the weights of all items in the computer and calculate exact shipping cost - other vendors are taking advantage of the USPS flat-rate shipping boxes. However, since I live in a relatively small town, and the nearest tackle store with a good selection is over 40 miles away, the gas to get to that shop and back is almost what the BPS shipping might be.  Either way (local shop or BPS order) I have to pay state sales tax.

The key to BPS shopping is to be patient and wait for the sales and clearances and then combine with a $20-off coupon or search on the net for BPS coupon codes - you occasionally will find one for free shipping. Do that, and there are deals to be had... 8-)
