February & March In Miami

Featured Replies

What are you folks throwing during these months in Miami?

It is winter, but here its always summer, lol

Senkos, slow rolling them with a tiny weight. Or a small rat-l-trap.

I'm 60 miles north, Feb. and March are the 2 months that I dislike the most.  Been hard fishing for bass since about mid November, about this time every year I get bored with it.  For a bit of variation I've been senko fishing, productive yes but I really don't care for it, I prefer open water fishing.

Senkos have been working.  I'm also throwing Trick Worms and they have been producing as well.

L 67 C/ Magic canal  used to be my all time favorite Feb/March canal.

Went there 2 weeks ago.  The bite was slow, but saw lots of fish.  Might head out there this weekend.

If it stops raining and the water drops a little more in the canals the numbers could be off the charts. We have had 200 fish a day especially in March, and April. It all depends on water levels in the glades. L67c is a great choice this time of years. Just watch the bank sides, solid gagged rock. Stay in the middle of that narrow canal when running.

Early mornings I would start with Chug Bug, Zara Spook, or frog. Then move to a senko type bait, fluke or trick worm. If you run far enough there is a pad field in the middle of the canal. Always a good spot. Good luck!

It's funny, I don't find it much different than the rest of the year. The summer slows down for me during the day. I mean it was 81 degrees today. Great fishing year round where I am.

If you time it right those hogs will be spawning on those coral rocks, a gold floating rapala thrown as far ahead as long as you can to the edge and let it sit till you cant stand it no more.

For some reason that canal harbors some of the biggest bass in the whole system.

Thanks for the tip.  I'll definitely give a try.

Tight lines.
