Fluorocarbon And A Rigs.

Featured Replies

Who does it and what is the lightest line you go? Also what is lightest weighted rig you use with it? Last time I used 65lb braid I felt like it scared fish off because of the water clarity.

You feel that the visibility of #65 braid (~.016 dia) scared fish but not the 3 to 5 steel arms holding fake bait or blades? I would venture to say you're being overly cautious. That said, minimum fluoro would probably be 20#.  It would depend on your overall weight of the rig and what is all on it.

I guess I didnt think about that too much.  To me braid looks like a long stick in the water and I would rather the bass see a big school running by than first seeing the line. 20lb was going to be my max but im worried it will snap.

I would not use fluoro on an A-Rig. If you do by chance have a "professional overrun" with that heavy of a bait on there go ahead and render that FC useless or kiss that bait goodbye. just my .02 though.

Bass aren't looking at your line, especially on a large profile of an A-rig swimming by them.  I would never chance a large bait like that with just traditional fluoro tied on. More than likely you will lose it at some point.  If anything, use your braid and tie on a heavy duty fluoro leader built for musky/pike.  In the grand scheme of things, #65 braid isn't really all that thick.

I've been throwing it on 20# yozuri hybrid this year.  No problems so far, only lost 1 rig by getting it snagged.

if the coat hanger of a bait you are using aint scaring them then your braid aint either....

but if you want to use FC, you best use a quality #25 pound FC, which is bigger than #65 braid
