Finally pulled the trigger on a mk maxxum 70 trolling motor. Upgrading from a 46 motor guide that came on my boat when I bought it and has probably been on it since new. Ordered from tackle warehouse. They were great to deal with as usual. The price match took a few minutes to confirm but after that it only took a few seconds to get everything set up. Should be here Tuesday

What does everybody think of these motors? Any suggestions with them?

You're aware that the 70 is 24 volts and it is going to take another battery to power it, right?  That being said, more trolling motor power is always better.  You will be able to go slower and faster with more control.

Love mine! Only fished one season with it so far but a huge difference. I swapped from a similar set up as yours. Batteries last all day(and then some) and only seem to require charging every other day due to the maximizer. Tons of power to get through the thickest weeds and pads. Double check that your nav lights are visible with motor down. I have 42" shaft and lights were not always visible depending on how high motor was set. Ended up wiring in some lights in the rub rail to be safe

Trees I am aware that it's 24v. Just wired in my new batteries today.

Gelhar thanks for the suggestion about the lights. My MG was a 42in shaft just like the MK I ordered so I don't expect it to be a problem but I'll definitely check it out.

I have a short and a long shaft 70 for my Xpress, works fine.

we have a maxxum 101 and couldn't be happier with it its quiet and is easy to control you should like it a lot

Fished 2 years in a club and open tourny's with a 55# 12v, after 2 years and taking a beating in the wind, went to a 70# maxxum, what a difference, love it....anyone wanting to fish in the wind needs a 24v motor, you can waist a lot of time dealing with the smaller motor, not to mention the aggravation on the water while trying to compete. Also went with the longer shaft so the head stays in the water when its choppy.  I do recommend the shock accessory of easy lifting.

Installed and about to head to the water for a quick test. I'll post pics soon
