Question For La Cygne Anglers

Featured Replies

I came into a mess of crappie fillets this weekend from La Cygne. I'm going to be deliberately naive here - what have you guys heard about consuming quantities of fish from coal powered plant lakes, La Cygne in particular? I know a lot of you guys fish this lake quite a bit.

No issues with eating them

I wouldn't eat them, but I don't eat fish from anywhere so take that for what it's worth. KDWPT doesn't say anything about not eating them on their website with the other consumption warnings.

IMO the fish from La Cynge are not as tasty as fish from say Hillsdale or Melvern

I like that you don't eat fish, means more in my freezer. If we get any tomorrow you should clean them for me so I dont have to get my hands dirty.

I appreciate all the feedback. I got talked into going out with a couple crappie guys and we ended up cleaning 83. They're getting saved for a Memorial Day fish fry. If any of you guys know you'll be around the Gravois Arm (North Buck Creek Cove) at that time, don't make yourself a stranger!

Water and a bit of lemon juice. Keeps em fresh.

The only fish I eat from Kansas are the trout that are stocked. I do fish a lot of smaller urban ponds though and I have a high concern for fertilizer runoff etc.
