Hello! I'm new to the Potomac river and not familiar with the vegetation.   What size flipping/pitching weights do you usually use on the Potomac?  I know it depends on what vegetation you're pitching.  Thanks!

Most of the time will use a 1oz, sometimes will step up to 1 1/2oz.

Like you said, it depends on the vegetation.  I let the area of vegetation tell me what I need, I want a weight that will punch through, but not fall too fast.  Actually, I target holes in the vegetation most of the time just so I can use a lighter weight that will allow the bait to float to the bottom.  I also at times let the wind carry my boat into the vegetation so I can flip new holes.  Rarely do I over extend my casts where I'll need to drag a fish far through the grass or have to go chasing after it, I believe it spooks nearby fish and kills the area.
