Went down to bass pro the other day to try a few reels and really liked the lexa.

It balanced nicely with the 6'6'' MF carbonlite I decided to get in the end.

Got it for around 90 with tax (:

Get the 2500 or 1500?

The 2500, the 1500 was nice too, I just liked the extra line capacity of the 2500.

It'll take 140 yards of 10lbs if I ever need to step up my line diameter in the future.

I was very pleased with bails on the lexa, and they seemed very smooth.

Hoping to try it out this weekend (:

 

the supremes were nice too, but they click very loudly when opening and closing the bail.

Not the only reason I picked the lexa, but it was a factor.

Never oiled a reel before.

It might just need a little break in time too. The display has probably been used a thousand times. Good looking reel though, congrats.

Looks good. And sounds like it needs a good break in. If it came with schematics, it may have oil points on it. I don't know, as I've not done that with mine...

 

You could also take it in to BPS and tell them it feels rough. When I bought my Stradics, they opened several boxes for me and I tested each one and chose the best feeling.

dont recall a clicking sound when opening the bail on my supreme, heard good things about the lexa though...

Could have just been the one they opened up for me. And yeah, I probably should have opened a few boxes before picking one. I'll just try breaking it in Thursday to see if it helps.

All the Phelugers have a advertised positive click bail.  Most folks find it a positive.  I'm sure your reel will smooth out with some use.  I don't open a new reel up at the very first. Just give it a drop of oil in the line roller, the opening of the rotor where the shaft moves through and at the handles joints.  My Revo Inshore spinner was sort of tight at first for lack of a better term, by the end of the first fishing trip it was the smooth.
