Jig / Pitching / Flipping Set Up Advice Needed For Bps Classic

Featured Replies

I got the brochure in my email today for the Bass Pro sale. I have store credit and will trade in a rod and reel for the added discounts. I need a set up for heavier pitching and flipping jigs. I have other set ups for other applications. I am leaning towards a Veritas and 7.1 Pro Qualifier set up. Need advice on length of rod and action / tip info and is a 7.1 reel good for this? What line? I am tall and I fish from a boat but not in real thick vegetation. What all could I throw on this set up? Thanks in advance.

7'6" mh or h rod with a fast taper.

7.something reel ratio

40-65lb braid

These are pretty basic guidelines for what you are describing.

You say your not in thick grass, so I would go 7'3" or 7'6" MH/F or MH/XF. 7:1 reels are great for this, zip it back in quick and make another pitch.
