Drop Shot & Your Biggest Bass?

Featured Replies

What was the biggest bass you have caught on the drop shot rig? And how deep was she? Or does the drop shot catch more mid size bass?

The drop shot catches all sizes of bass, and other fish from time to time. My biggest is 8+ on 6lb test. Today I got a 3 and a couple around 2. It really depends on the body of water your on, and the quality of fish.

Biggest LM =~ 6lbs in 15'

SM =~4.5 in 25'

^Rather big fish for my region of the country anway. Drop shotting is certainly not just good for numbers.

Thanks!  No, they were boat fish.  The first is a Lake Ontario fish, the second is from Erie.

This is a Lake O. smallie from the kayak.

Great pictures guys and NICE fish! Keep them coming. And fourbizz I like the  bassin in the dark! I fish 95% of my summer bassin is in the dark.I love it

Not really much to brag about but this is my biggest DS Bass. This a very decent size for the lake I fish. I think where I caught it was about 15'-20' of water. It hit on the initial drop, and I was totally not expecting it.

The Spotted bas in my avater is my biggest spot caught on a dropshot at about 12 feet. I'm not sure about my biggest Largemouth though.

Mostly I drop shot for smallies in a large, deep reservoir. One of my cornerstone presentations is the drop shot. Here a few decent fish I've caught & released:

I have many, many more such pictures. Been drop shotting for about 8 years now. We average 125 - 150 smallies (all CPR) each season - and all over the 2 1/2 lb. mark. (We don't count how many we've taken under that weight?) 90% on the drop shot.

Going to focus on throwing the big swimbaits this coming season however. Should be interesting. :P

The largest bass I've ever caught on a drop shot rig was a 12.

a 12 incher, that is.

Dink magnet in my experience.

On my float tube! didnt have a scale and I wasnt able to lift her higher for the full body picture cause she was to heavy.

Caught on 6lb seagar flouro and a 4 1/2'' oxblood roboworm 3/16 wieght
