Stingray Grubs

Recommended Posts

I remember a little while ago, there was a member who was up in arms about not being able to find Manns Stingray Grubs. I remember him saying these were very productive for him.Someone found them for him and all was well again.

I have some of my own, they are knock offs(not MANNS) but some unknown brand in a generice ziploc bag.

Ok details out of the way.

What is the deal with these? Anyone else fish them and find them to be productive? What presentation is best? I can see these working for Smallies, but how are they for LMB?

What action do these have that may make them productive?

They're a great cold water bait. They also work very well in tidal water and rivers. I like smoke or avacado best. I fish them on a ball head just like any other grub. All species of bass like them.

I used to use those on a mushroom jig (don't know if they make those anymore), but when you jigged that thing, it would go crazy.  Saw it on In-Fisherman years ago and tried it, of course it worked!!!  Killed the smallies---haven't done that in years though.

Gopher still makes them: http://www.gophertackle.com/mushroomjig.html

Great for lots of finesse type baits.

The "deal" is they are a great finesse bait.

My favorite ways to fish them are:

No sinker Texas rigged ( fished like a jerkbait )

Split shot rigged

Jighead rigged ( 1/16 oz )

Used to be a common bait many moons ago.
