I think tomorrow is going to be replace the water pump day. ( I hope)

Will be my first time.....but looks pretty straight forward.

Any warnings or watch out fors?

In general........

Unbolt lower unit.

Gently slide the lower unit down.

Unbolt water pump.

Remove the housing.

Remove the impeller.

Be careful not to lose the key.

Install impeller greased slightly

Install 3 gaskets

Install housing lightly greased

Bolt to specs

Slide lower unit back into place

Bolts/nuts to specs

Sound about right?

What time do you want me to be there?

I'll be picking up the pump around 9.

Make sure your shift lever doesnt have to be in a different position, I had one heck of a time getting mine lined back up. Also make sure that pickup tube gets hooked up right.

What pick up tube? For the speedo?

Theres a tube at least in mine, that runs from the lower unit/water pump into the powerhead. I guess technically its not a pickup as its forced flow.

Now I did not think I was having issues with the pump.....I was just doing routine preventative maintenance.

But if you look closely you might see where one of the fins of the impeller had pulled away from the side of the housing creating a gap and I think there was a second fin doing the same. This impeller had 2 seasons on it........just saying stay on top of maintenance.
