I really like the Tatula better in almost every aspect, to be honest. It has a thinner blank, better color scheme, better quality guides, more comfortable reel seat and it's more sensitive. Both rods are similar as far as weight, though the Tatula is slightly lighter. I do wish the Tatula had the option of micro guides, though the Duckett micros are a little bit too small, to the point they look dorky. I didn't keep my Ducketts after using them because they just felt cheap to me, I don't get that with the Tatula at all. The Tatula feels like a premium rod when I am using it.

I held the tatula a few times, they seem a lot stiffer for the mentioned action....just a heads up

I have the Tatula 6'10" MH fast. I can't say enough about it - I love it.

I love the Duckett Micro Magics more. Tatulas have that weird ribbed texture on the blank which is an instant turn-off for me. Ducketts are not thicker, because Ducketts are white they appeal thicker but really black appeals thinner, but according to angling, they usually are thinner. I have the heavy guides on Tatulas, and I love the Micro Guides and the flex on the Duckett. The grip on the Tatula is thin which is great but I hate that reel seat, Its too wide and its no better than other reel seats out there.For some reason the Daiwa Products, for most of them, look weird to me. They do things differently, and not in a good way. But hey its my personal opinion

local mom and pop store stopped carrying the ducketts because they kept getting returns. the carry a full line of daiwas, not sure if they have tats in yet though

Bps does carry it because I've held it at the store.

I have Daiwa Tatula reels and was dead set on getting the rods to match. I went to BPS and there was just something about the Tatula rods that I didn't care for. I don't know if it was the reel seat and the length of the front grip or what. I just went to look at the ghost rods and I ended up getting the ghost rods. I used them this past weekend and was really happy with them. I have read about all of the problems with them, so I just hope I got some good ones. I am in no way saying one is better than the other, just personal preference is all.

 

I can't handle the old saying that they are "ugly". I think people drive cars that are ugly, but if they like they way it looks, then who am I to judge?

The Tatula rods are fairly easy to find, even in my neck of the woods. I know at least one local shop has them, I handled them and was impressed. I had the opportunity to try out the casting drop shot model and.the sensitivity was.very.impressive, even with mono. One doesn't have to be very creative to find the rods online...

Yeeeeeaahhh but have you used a tatula rod?

I would go for the tatula because I don't like micro guides at all. I have not had enough time using the duckett to really give an opinion, but it was so ugly that I almost vomited.

The tatula is a sleek rod with a nice crisp feel to it. The blank is not the most sensitive I have used, and it does run a bit heavier and faster than it is rated. The ergonomics are great though. The reel seat is very comfortable, and the balance is great. One of the guides is just slightly off to the side on my tatula rod, but it took me a few weeks to notice that since it is off by just a few degrees.

Head north to the Gurnie Mills BPS they them I checked them out last friday. They had the ML full handle one but the feel of the material was a bit rough for my liking.

They also have the Ducketts right next to them.
