Ive always wondered, while servicing my reels, if the drag washers need any kind of maintenance. I usually take a look at them but they always pretty much look the same, a little oily.

Remove the oil as best possible.  Oil contaminates your drag.  Get Cal's Drag Grease or shimano Drag Grease and dabble a light coat on the non metallic washers. Don't use regular grease, it needs to be drag specific.

Drag washers shouild be degraesed and dried along with the rest of the reel. "wet" drags like Shimano uses should be greased as stated above with a drag specific product. Shimano and Cals are two of the best. Carbon drags like Daiwa and ABU use don't need to be greased unless you're fishing for big, long running fish where heat can build up. Ceramic drags like some Quantums use must be dry.

Curado I is a dry drag system? I think? Anyone else?

If what they call "Cross Carbon" is similar to the small washer under the gear on a Chronarch E, then yes it can be run dry. I never understood why they took the half measure with the CH unless it was to run down the inventory of that "Dartanium" material they use.

The reels I would be refering to are older Quantum E600 Ti's. The owners manuals never say anything about the drag washers one way or the other.
