Abu Garcia Vendetta On Sale!

Featured Replies

For anyone in the market for some bargain rods, Wal-Mart has Abu Garcia Vendetta rods on sale for 29.96 if you can find them. The vast majority don't hit the scanners at 29.96 so you have to be crafty at how to get them bought right. I've pieced together a small arsenal over the winter by hounding the clearance racks and buying two at a time. Here's how to buy two at a time. Find a vendetta with the SKU covered with a sticker. That one should ring up correctly, so what I did was double check it at the price scanner and find another one without the sticker and pick it up too. The cashier always corrected the mistake when they rang it up and noticed they were identical rods. I've even brought it to the attention of our local Wally World and they had the problem sorted out and I bought four of them at once and gave three away as Christmas gifts. They must have got more in and now they have them all messed up. Some of the new Next Gen. rods are at 29.96 and the old ones are ringing up at 79, so if you want a bargain on a nice rod, go check them out and be prepared to take a cart full of rods to the scanner. I've done this all over Central Illinois this winter and right now they have them all in a garbage can as an end cap in sporting goods. Some decent other deals in there as well. KVD quantum rods for 79+, daiwa jupiters for under 40 and W&M Skeet Reese's for 60. Happy Hunting!

That's pretty crappy man

Crappy how? By giving them away or by having them get their prices right? They are all supposed to be $29.96 I don't know about the next gen rods, but I know all the first gens are supposed to be that. If you insist on spending full retail on your rods, be my guest, but I don't have that kind of budget.

It's basically stealing if you are buying the next gen rods for $29 and you are the one who caused them to mark them like that.

I don't even own a next gen vendetta. What I had them correct was the first gens. There were four identical rods with three different prices on them. One had just a price tag, one had the corrected SKU and the other scanned 79. Would you not wonder what the heck was up? This particular wal mart is my local one that had them so screwed up, I've seen several others that had them at 29 and 79 for the same rods that's why you have to earn some of the deals. Sorry I brought it up. Welcome to bassresource huh?

I love mine and thought others would like to have some decent rods on a Berkley budget. Just look for the sticker on the tag otherwise some people may accuse you of stealing.

It doesn't have anything to do with a fishing forum. If you owned a store would you want a customer to let you know that there item was miss priced by $50? I would but maybe that's just me

I for one am grateful as heck for this post! My wife just got me a vendetta for christmas and it is my favorite rod. she got that at full price too so if wally world has it for cheaper then I am heading that way first thing tomorrow. thanks for the heads up.

I sure don't want to spend $50 I don't have to for the same piece.

I think they are just trying to get rid of existing stock of a rod that was discontinued over a year ago.

My WalMart had the Vendetta's down to $19.99.  Picked up one for the wife and also got myself a Bucoo Micro Guide for $29.99.  All the WalMarts have they're fishing stuff on clearance right now.  Around here the different stores have different stuff though.  The one had rod's marked down while another close by had line/reels on sale and still another had lures/terminal tackle.  Some of the deal's are better than others.  You just gotta sift through them.

Good catch on that bucoo!

That's pretty crappy man

I don't see how this is crappy; especially if the price tags were mismatched. Now if an individual purposefully goes and swaps a lower priced tag out for a higher than yes that would be crappy/wrong...but its not the customers fault, if the workers in the store incorrectly priced items. Plus I think Wal-Mart will be fine in the end :wink2:

The nice thing about Walmart too is if they don't sell something on clearance, they just keep marking it down. I've got some steals there in the past. Trokars for $3 a pack, Gamakatsu hooks for $1.50 per pack, bow roller for $5. Just the other day I picked up a few of the Plano Elite crankbait boxes for $4 a piece. Each place seems to have different stuff and certain stores have different prices on the same things. I think it's time to make another Walmart run! lol

Here in NC. I brought a second gen spinning rod for $64. Over $10 cheaper than BPS. Also, all there clearance is $5. I mean good stuff for $5 too.

Thanks for the heads up, have to check out the bargain "trash can" at our local store.
