Is there any tool specifically made for this? I'm trying to snip off the excess weedguards i trimmed sticking out from the head so that they are snug to the head. Its hard to do it with regular wire snippers.

I'm not sure what you are wanting to do.  Are you wanting to completely remove the weedguard or do you have some flared out from the rest?

Pointed gate shears will do the job the fastest. To avoid this why not pour the jigs with the correct number of strands, and avoid the hassle of cutting strands? Just curious why you do all of this work.

I used nail clippers, it cuts less at a time but does the job well.  Also, I used to cut the gaurds but now just flare every strand out.  It makes it more WOODless and you can't get that if they're cut.  Now I never cut a strand.  I trim my skirt in a W pattern.
