Floating worms

Featured Replies

Zoom trick worms in the bright colors esp. merthiolate and bubblegum if you can deal with the light weight, or Gamblers if you need some heavier worms esp. some two tone models. When bass are both roaming for beds and when they are leaving the beds these can be awful good in the wild colors.

Zoom trick worms in pink, yellow and white.  :)

Zoom worms do not float no matter what color they are. Just another myth passed on by the uninformed.

The only ones I have tested that did are the Strike King 3X and the Renegade worms.

All the ones laying on the bottom of this jug of water are Zoom Trick worms and some others that state"floating worms" on the package.

Duh,  We've called them incorrectly "floating" worms forever just because we fish them weightless and snap them up near the surface. We actually like them to sink just a tad, Wayne.

Anyone else still have the old superfloaters? They work. :)

Any Roboworm

Roboworms sink until the salt has dissolved. This takes about 30 min in the water. I dropped a new one over the side and it went to the bottom. Later it floated up. Got on their website and there is a page that explained the salt release and how the worm responds. The salt is in the head of the bait so maybe the tail dose float up in the beginning I have never tested it.

The only truly floating I have found is made by Rattlesnake bait co.  They are very spongy and actually do float. I have a few bags of their finesse worms, but haven't seen them in a store for years.

I have a few packages of the SK 3X and yes they do float  quite well.

QUAKEnSHAKE, the red lable 3X lures make very good Carolina Rig baits. The purple label 3X have salt in and on them so they sink somewhat.

yeah I left out the packages I have are labeled SUPER FLOATING

Ive caught a fair amount of bass with them using a split-shot about 6" up from hook.

Good post. I've tried out numerous shake/finesse worms in my sink, and the only one I had that had any float to it was the Squirrel Tail worm, and only the tails float on that one.

Powerbait also has a 6" pink floating steelhead worm that can float a heavy worm hook and works well in the slop.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe Berkley's Power Shaky Worms may float as well. I typically have to round up pieces that wind up floating in the water after unhooking/releasing the fish.

How about a oldie but goodie ! HAW RIVER ORIGINAL BUBBLE GUM WORM.Is my go too for floating worm. Harder to find can order direct in NC .Forget the name of the color, order by hundred bag, yellow and pink configuration. Great floating worm, will texas rig with a half twist and bend in worm.

The gambler floating worm works real well in the spring. It floats easily and has a good snake action.

I just saw them floating at the Richmond Fishing Expo.  Never used them, but they do float so...

i tested it. tails barely rose up after about 15 mins. took between 3 and 4 hours for mine to float. i was a little dissappointed.

Raider baits, Bass Chow, Uptons Customs.  All three of these brands float. They are all hand poured customs. And they all come in some awesome colors as well.

...the question was floating worms. Not sinking worms that are called floating worms. Not sure about the defensiveness there. Sometimes it's ok to be corrected.

Try a hags tornado in 8in.It has a hollow air pocket molded in.Go to youtube and watch the demo. :)
