We all hear about Megastrike and JJ's. Ive used Megastrike and I like it alot.While it will turn watery when in the heat,a few minutes in a cooler with ice,and its almost totally solid and very user friendly again. JJ's, for me, is a little bit tougher to manage. It has to be kept cool, and in a separate container. Can wreak havoc if spilled and isnt compatible with all plastics. Not saying JJ's isnt good,but thats my take on it.

That being said,I was wondering about other Attractants.

Anyone use Pro-Cure? Ive read where people will coat their Swimbaits with the "Trout" Formula to enhance their swimbait bite when Bass Fishing,making the bait smell and taste like Trout.

I use Bio Edge crawfish wand for jigs and plastics and Bio Edge herring wand for cranks. The reason i like this scent is its like a glue stick, just rub it on the bait.

I have tried Pro-Cure Nightcrawler/Garlic and Crawfish/Garlic.  It's not so strong a scent as JJ's and it's kind of expensive, IMHO.  I wouldn't buy it again...don't see that it does anything that JJ's and/or MegaStrike don't already do for me.

I bought a bottle of the Power Team Lures new hog tonic and like it a lot. It stays with your bait longer and has a powerful scent. Don't have to keep spraying your lures all day.

i have never seen scents even help me while fishing, for this reason i dont use them anymore.

I was thinking about getting some megastrike and/or JJ's magic this year. I'm not a hard core believe in scents, but it doesn't hurt to dabble now and again.  It seems everytime I try lures that are super scented like gulp, trigger x, or even regular berkely baits I catch catfish and snapping turtles and get a bunch of annoying panfish pecks all day long... Maybe the result will be different with the applied scents.

Pros say nothing leaves their boats without some scent on the baits.

Dr. Keith Jones, in his book, Knowing Bass, The Secret to Catching More Fish, has a very informative chapter on scents.

In the chapter he rates how long bass hold onto lures with specific scents.

What is so interesting with Dr. Jones' research is the thinking that the scent receptors of a bass are not large enough to accommodate oil based scents, meaning the bass cannot smell them.

I suggest everyone get a copy of Dr. Jones' book and read it. You may or may not agree with everything his research has produced but you will find the book very informative and interesting.

As for me, everything leaves the boat with some scent on it. If for nothing else than a confidence builder.

Have been using Megastrike but last month called a order in to a major tackle distributor and just asked what fish attractant they sold the most of and they said it was the KVD.

Has anyone used KVD attractant and how does it seem to work, is it on par with Megastrike or does not seem as good.  Thanks.

Well, I use JJ's sometimes for jig trailers, but I

use it at home, outside. Those baits are kept in

their original bags. The stuff is just too messy for

me to carry around.

MegaStrike is my "go-to" scent. It's very user friendly

and I especially like the lubricating feature. I'm

not convinced MegaStrike is actually an "attractant",

but i do believe fish hold the bait longer.

I always wonder if sometimes the extra scent isn't making bass shy away or not fully take a bait.  For instance I love oregano, but sometimes I can approach a dish with way too much, and definitely know that that much oregano, while it smells nice at first will put me off, being far too strong to eat.  I wonder if sometimes the bass might pick up a bait and say whoa, too much 'whatever' and drop it or not fully take it because of scent.

Garlic on the plastics and the pasta!  ;D

I use pro cure super gel scents on all my soft plastics and swimbait . Their scents (pro cure) are made out what ever scent you get for example the crawfish scent is made out of real crawfish !! Anyway , I use the crawfish , trout , and trophy bass scents all the time and love them , just couldn't ever get into those garlic scents ... 

I use Pro-cure's super gels exclusively.  To me, they stay on the baits well, not better than everything else but better than the other scents I used to use. 

Some of my favorites are the Rainbow Trout, Crawfish, Garlic Craw, Sweet Craw, Shad, Threadfin Shad, and Smelt.

When you catch yr PB on something that is smeared with a scent it helps the confidence factor! Haha
