I'm looking at possibly buying a 2006 Bass Cat Pantera Classic and was hoping that somebody on here may have some experience with this model boat and be able to fill me in on their likes and dislikes of it. It's equipped with a 200 Yamaha VMAX hpdi with approximately 100 hours and a 101 lb thrust Minn Kota.

 

Yesterday I was test driving a 2001 TR21 Triton equipped with a 225 Opti Max and the motor blew during the first 5 minutes of the test drive... This made me more nervous than I had been in the past about buying anything used with a Opti Max on the back.

 

Any input or wisdom about the Bass Cat is appreciated.

always have an independent mechanic check it out......general once over on the motor, compression, lower unit oil, ect ect.  

It is money well spent, especially knowing what you just witnessed on your last test run.

My buddy just got an 06 stratos with an 06 150hp yahmaha vmax hdpi on the back. Great motor and runs awesome. I wouldnt be hesitant to buy a vmax after running his boat all week full throttle. 

Bass Cats are basically very good boats.  Like any used boat, it depends on how it was maintained and cared for.
