Airbrushing Mess

Featured Replies

Ok so I'm trying to get into airbrushin crank baits. However its been a mess. I have a Iwata neo cn gravity feed airbrush with a 100 psi air compressor. I'm using 10 to 15 Psi. I'm etting over spray even when I use a stiencil. I'm getting so frustrated cause nothing is turning out how I wanted can anyone pleass help me?

Never done it before but I just "you tubed"  "airbrushing crankbaits" and found quite a few vids on if. Kinda makes me wanna give it a go.

You're letting to much paint spray out. Less is more.

what do you have between the compressor and the gun?

I have a water seperator and my compressor has a built in air pressure gage

Im guessing what you think you are getting at the gun, you likely are not getting that. I dont own an airbrush but when I spray paint the pressure coming out of the compressor is much higher than what I send into the gun.

You tore this whole thing down I assume and cleaned it first right? Does it have any little filters in it? If it does take them out of the gun and strain the paint going into the cup rather than letting the filter in it.

Put about 80psi out at your tank and with a second regulator before the brush im guessing its likely hvlp so start at rock bottom and go up a little at a time adjusting the gun on cardboard first. I didnt look but it sounds like this is a double action as in pull back/push to control paint and air. This gun likely also has different needle and tip configurations id assume?

Um see that I don't know the gun itself came with one needle and no instructions at all

Is maybe ur paint too thin or not thin enough?? The air pressure seems fine. Also try cleaning the airbrush.

Try to spray very little paint at fitst. Do multiple lite coats of paint, the thinner it is the easier it is to run and get overspray, if its a little thicker its harder to spray but less runs and overspray if you do lite coats..

Trust me it may take 6-7 lite coats before the thing will be the color u want. Ive been airbrushing for years. Also make sure you dont have dried paint on your needle tip and i dont use the very tip of the airbrush, the little piece that screws on the end. Whenni airbrush i can see my needle.

Also what kind of paints are you using?

And also if your painting and everything is goin good and it quits dont be afraid to take it apart and clean it again. A clean airbrush is your friend a dirty one will drive u crazy.
