Hey guys I've been fishing a fluke a lot lately and I can't seem to catch any fish on it. Do any of y'all know any tips or tricks that can help me?

Try rigging it sideways for a different action. Tie a bullet weight in front of it with a bobber stopper/bead to keep it from sliding too far up. The fluke is a seriously versatile bait, don't be afraid to just try stuff!

Try using a pistol grip rod it makes them do magic

Throw it where there are fish.

 

Kidding aside, I don't linger in a spot too long if stuff like the fluke and senko aren't getting any attention. You may need to switch up baits depending on the cover you're fishing. My favorite spots for flukes are over the tops of submerged weeds and shallow rocky banks. Throw it right on the bank and inch it into the water. I've had smallies come up into water that didn't cover their back to hit them.

Pull it over/through dense lily pads and kill it as it comes off the last pad. 

I like to fish them pretty slowly on lighter line. Don't be afraid to scale down to 8 pound test and spinning gear to coax a bite from them. I let them sink to the desired depth, then give them a short, sharp twitch or two, with long pauses. Most hits come on the pause and will manifest as your line moving away.

if using a 5" fluke, try to use a small hook like a 1/0 if it fits the fluke you use, and it should.....I find I get bit way more with smaller hooks than I would always use in the past which was 4/0+. I still flip with big ewg hooks, but flukes, I go slow, weightless, maybe nail weight, work it erratic, and switch co,lors to match forrage as well as size, and if the usuall colors are not working, always have something gaudy in chartruese, Pink, Or banana swirl for reaction strikes.....I like pearl, silver, GP, Watermelonseed and purples oftten dipped in chartruese and chart is often key......you can flip flukes, and fish em like a frog, great bait, just remember it is not a swimbait.....I used to make that miistake,it is a twitch bait even with a swimming tail in my world.
