as  a shore fisherman it happens, lol bouncing hooks in my shorts happens. I have now acquired 3 crankbaits that I have had to cut trebles out of. My question is what is best size for 1/4 and 1/2 oz hooks for em 

1/2oz is size 4 trebles, 1/4oz is size 6

That's good to know! I throw those often and need to replace a few bent hooks.

Put your pocket baits in a empty bag. I do it all the time. I have a BPS bag that had senkos in it that I have used for years. It is bigger and thicker then regular bags from plastics.

The hooks are definitely a weak point on this bait. I had peackcock bass straighten them out yesterday without a overly tight drag. Great to know for replacing if needed.

I use size 2 KVD triple grips on the 1/2 oz red eye shads.  They come with size 4 but handle the 2 great.  

For shore fishing, when I take hardbaits with me in my pockets I carry them in the big TicTac containers.

It will easily fit 2-3 crankbaits and shorter jerkbaits. I will usually have 1 with jigs/trailers and 1 with harbaits in my pockets when I decide to run down a shore. Also they're big enough to fit a spinnerbait in. I bet you could fit 4 redeyes in one of these.

 

Edit: plus it gives you an excuse to buy TicTacs

Get yourself a lightweight backpack and a plano 3700 box. Put the baits you plan on using in the box and go, leave the rest locked in your car/truck in case you need them. 

 

For the hooks. I like #2 X-short shanks for the 1/2 and #4 x-short for the 1/4. For regular trebles you will want #4 for the 1/2 and #6 for the 1/4.
