With that budget buying new look at a Berkley Lightning or Lightning Shock rod and at the Abu Black Max or H2O Mettle baitcasting reels.  Used will give you a few more choices.

EDIT:  I am not familiar with house brand combos, but maybe someone else can give a suggestion for those.

abu silvermax and a berkley shock rod. Solid setup and should come in right around the $100 range. Both rod and reel can be used with other equipment easily, they are versatile.

I have the silvermax now on my daiwa rod. It's decent but wouldn't buy another one, abu kinda disappointed me with that one

Push your budget a bit and get a brand new Lews Speed Spool for $75 on ebay then pickup a Lighting Rod shock to put it on.

I think it's worth the extra $25 to get a reel that will last a lot longer.

Dont get tthe Aird combo, the rod may be decent but the reel is awful. Hate to say that about any Daiwa product but the truth is the truth. My advice would be to push your budget up about 25 bucks and get and older model Exceller reel (40-50$) and a Daiwa T rod for around 75 bucks. Or find a Shimano Clarus (around 70) and a used reel on the flea market or on the bay. Either way watching the Flea Market could land you the nest Bang for your buck.
