  1. nice looking fish! I need to work on my jig fishing I always seem to just want to throw the spinnerbait
  2. Awesome! I have a bionic reel that I bought probably 7 years ago and I use it for crankbaits. awesome reels! Glad you are enjoying the baitcasting world
  3. wow nice catch! and looks like a place I would love to fish with back drops like that
  4. Sounds like he had the luck and maybe a slightlt different retrieve speed. I use flouro on my crankin rod
  5. The daiwa aird combo can be had for that price range. Thw rod is solid but im nor sure about the reel
  6. When i put ant setting of brakes up it has WAY to much tension. It leads me to think they just arent working right
  7. I love this reel to death lol but i tore it down to clean it and made the mistake of not noticing my brake positions. I think I only ever had one birds nest before messing with it. If you want to sell yours I would buy it thats how much I like this one lol. Like it better than my mid range Daiwa and abu
  8. awesome thanks! I will have to give this a try tonight and see if I can get this reel to really throw the spiinerbaits out there with ease
  9. So the missing bloocks will be like having it in the "off" position?
  10. also appears I am missing one of the small white pieces. I bought this from a friend so who knows if he had tinkered with it. But will missing on effect casting at all?
  11. When I move them to the out position the side cover will not go back on because the stick out so far.
  12. I am trying to dial in my older extreme reel. When I take the side plate off this is what i see. How do I adjust these brakes to help me stop getting birds nest and still get a good cast? I have adjusted the dial on the other side of the reel to just let the 3/8Oz spinnerbait fall lightly to the floor without over running the spool.
  13. Jerkbaits and soft plastics like a senko work well for me. I still throw a spiinerbait hoping for a strike though. Also REALLY slowing down my presentation helps.
  14. Same results for me yesterday. Went to a pond with a muddy bottom and no luck for me fishing fast or slow
  15. It may make them last a bit longer. But I buy my rods to use them and I like the feel of cork better than plastic. I can always clean the cork handle and keep it looking good.
  16. - get better with a swim jig. - fish deeper water - use the wacky rig more - and as always enjoy my days off that I spend on the water
  17. Best sale this DSG had was 20% strike kine and big bite baits for 99 cents. And the walmart had nothing on sale. But i keep looking hoping to get lucky
  18. That is a steal! I would buy way to many lol
  19. I will be out as soon as the ice is off the lakes and ponds around here. Work on my cold weather fishing with the light stuff.
  20. In smaller ponds i have awesome luck with the zoom super fluke. I would throw a spinnerbait if that was not working for me
  21. Shaky head and a suspending jerkbait for me.
  22. thanks everyone! getting excited to get out on the water with temps starting to warm up!
  23. thanks! Hope to pick up some good pre spawn tips from the forums. Getting excited to get out and fish.
  24. Hello all, My name is Jonathan and I am located in eastern Iowa. Been fishing since I was around 10 and am currently 23. Have not been able to fish much the past 2 summers so this year I am going to get back out more. New rods and new lures for me lol. I almost always go after bass but enjoy the crappie bite when it is on though. I am here to share fishing stories and take in some knowledge. attached is a picture of one of the larger ones I have pulled out of a lake near me. This picture is probably 6 years old.
