I have a decent amount of soft plastics and was wondering how y'all store them in a kayak? I have about 30 bags I like to keep on me when fishing and haven't found a good way to keep them together. I tried putting them in a gallon ziplock bag and that was a disaster......plastics everywhere. Anybody got any good methods?

Based on your avatar, you have a sit inside. That makes storage a bit different. Not sure you can use a crate or not.

But as a kayak fisherman myself, tackle storage is something of a continuous search for what works best. I go from zip lock gallon bags with various bags of plastics, each zip labeled. Then I'll tire of that and move to 360 size boxes with my worms layed out in the compartments, to some other experiment.

Right now I'm a mix between the two above. I have my key colors in a 360 box, and other stuff in zip locks, all stored in a tackle bag.

Not sure how that would work in your situation. As I like to say, be creative, experiment and discover what works best for you.

I have speed bags that are like small duffle bag. I saw at BPS and Cabelas they have the KVD ones I believe. I just renewed by BASS membership and got a small one too. My buddy has one and a co angler I know has one and they are great for toting from boat to boat and on and off boats too. I would recommend those. They fit about 20+ I believe.

I use spinnerbait boxes that either have the removable inserts or I cut them out. They are the perfect size for most plastics it also makes it easy to customize them for a given day and not bring everything with you.

I've tried worm binders. I ended up busting the zippers. I've tried throwing them in the Black Pak, that just becomes a disaster and so does having them in the cockpit with you. I've done the gallon zip lock bag and that worked nice just have 5-6 1 gallon bags (one for each type of plastic) ie. Lizards, turtles, and frogs I combine, ribbon tail worms, stick worms, flukes, trailers, craws, and creatures I combine.

 

Another thing that works well is a Disc Golf Bag a small one that holds 10-12 discs, it makes a great soft plastic bag, and I take heavy duty rubber bands and separate my plastics, and just throw them in the bag.

30 different plastics is ok on a boat but in kayaks you have to down size rods (number) and tactical. I use a binder tackle for my kayak and I have a front deck kit I put on the front and just run one of the bungees around the binder so it stays put on top of the kayak.

I just use a small FTO speed bag. Leave the plastics in the original package. It's compact, quiet and tidy.

I have a Sit In kayak too. It can be a pain in the butt to figure out where to put stuff. I move the seat a little further up. and put a milk crate there. I also put extra bungees on the front, with a smaller plano soft bag on it. It may take some practice to get to your stuff, but it's doable.

I had a safety bag in the hull if my SOT, but slid way to the back, our if the way. I tied a parachute cord to it, and put a slip knot to the battery tray so I could get it easily. Maybe you could try something similar with you plastics storage.

30 is way overkill for a kayak. I can make due with a bag or 2 depending on where I am fishing. K.I.S.S. is the system I use in my kayak. Paddlerz in 2 colors for salt and super flukes  and a bag of worms for fresh. White is a good color anywhere. Bring some jigheads and some wide gaps and you have top bottom and middle covered.

 

I also keep a 3600 plano with a spook or 2, a rattle trap or 2, and a couple cranks but I rarely use them. I keep everything including my lunch and a drink in a soft sided lunch pack with a big pocket on the front
