Can Someone Please Tell Me What Bait This Is?

Recommended Posts

Ok so i started using these fluke type baits my uncle gave me and they work really well and i can't seem to find them anywheres, he said he bought them about 7 years ago at walmart and i've looked everywhere for these things has anyone got a clue? It's got a tri tail not a double like a zoom fluke does but it's the same size it somewhat transparent and it looks like they printed a picture of a mullet on a fluke it's a soft plastic.

I just saw these at the tackle shop in a clearance bin and I want to say Renosky is correct, or maybe Riverside, terminator soft plastics, but I actually grabbed a few since they have a stenciled look with detail and were realistic looking...Not sure where I put them, but they were old and came in a kit of about 12 baits and some hooks....They were old, looked to be 80's or 90's....

if I find them on Thursday I will get back to you as they were in packaging and not sure if I stashed them somewhere at work, or if they are in my heap of tackle I buy but rarely use.....If there a more I can grab them for you as they cost almost nothing.

I use the Renosky scattering shad baits. There discontinued but the company still has left overs. They have blue glimmer or chartreuse. I use the dying minnow presentation. I find these are really hot in the fall too. There graphics isn't that real looking but they work. Wal-Mart seems to carry the renosky stuff.

As everybody said, it´s a Renosky, the only problem is they are discontinued, however don´t get too fixed on that particular bait, there are many others that work as well, my personal preference is BassAssassin Shad Assassin but the Zoom Super Fluke is equally effective, there´s also a customizable jerkbait Yum´s Houdini Shad, it´s customizable because you can change the tail configuration by removing parts of the tail, Castaic has the Jerky J. Now, for some of these baits there are saltwater versions that are slightly larger. Something bigger in size you have the Slug go.

BTW, welcome to the community !

I don't believe it is Renosky. I think what you have is a fluke bait made by a company called Illusion Lures. They were made in Norman Oklahoma. I do not know if they are still around. You can sometimes find some on fleabay. They were made with a realistic print over the bait. The plastic was kind of hard so it moved different and was sometimes hard to get a good hookset. I believe they showed up in stores around 2000-2001 and disappeared shortly after. They came in a small plastic box with the hooks and they had a strong following in local areas for a short time. I think I still have a couple of them around somewhere. Good Luck on your search.
