Glx Crankbait Rod, Which Should I Get

Featured Replies

Hey, I'm looking for some feedback on these rods, and recommendations. I will primarily be throwing medium-deep diving baits, 95% of what I will be throwing will be dt10s up to dt16s. Which model would you recommend for this application? I'm pretty set on the GLX, but those Cumaras are pretty sweet too. Thanks for the help.

Thinking maybe the GLX855CBR, but was wondering if a heavy power would be better?

Sorry I can't help you but I must say one of my combo that I keep wishing I had was a GLX cranking rod paired with a Curado E5. That emerald green on green would just look fantastic when the sun hits it. Good luck on your decision.

The GLX855CBR is a MH cranking stick and I don't think, for the applications you mentioned, you'd want a higher power rod.  If you primarilly fish from a boat, I might recommend going a little longer than 7ft, but this is a great rod. Wish I could afford one!

Yes I fish from a boat, but I'm only 5'8 too. Not so sure about an 8' rod? Maybe someone else will chime in on that.

Bump, rod length, power? I have heard that heavy rods are better for cranking deeper baits.

Dobyn's Randy McAbee crank rod in 7'6" is a superb rod for your application. It's a med-hvy which is good choice for the crankbaits you plan to use.

The 855 is plenty of power (5) for that size af Crankbait and even a little larger.
