Hi guys. New to the forum, and somewhat new to the fishing world. I'll just cut to the chase... I bought a Pflueger President Model 6935 and love it! I have 10 lb fluorocarbon line on it and it's been a real treat. However, I'd like to start fishing for musky this summer and realize that I need some line that is going to be stronger. I have stronger braided line, and thought it would be simple to simply switch the spools between my current one and a second one wound with stronger line. However, the reel did not come with a spare spool! I see countless Pflueger spools for sale cheap on ebay (6735, XT 40, etc) but none for the 6935. So my question is, are any of these spools interchangeable? Could I get one to fit onto my reel or are they all model specific? On Pflueger's parts catalog, the spool alone before shipping is 25 bucks, and these ebay spools are only 10, so I'd like to get one of those if I can!

I don't think a second spool is your answer, an entirely different set up I feel is a better choice.  Not knowing your rod I'm assuming it probably isn't heavy enough to handle the weight of some of the heavier lures that are popular for muskie.  Your reel itself is usable but not really the right tool.

x3 on the posts above. Even if your swapping the reel to put on a musky rod that reel isn't going to be big enough. You're going to need to invest in something a bit beefier if you plan on fishing for them much. Most use baitcasters for them too for what it's worth.

Yes, to answer your question the president and supreme xt spools are interchangeable. I am currently running a supreme XT 35 spool on my President 35.

 

The supreme xt 9235 spool will fit your 6935 reel.
