double skirts for jigs and spinnerbaits

Featured Replies

Anyone ever double up the skirts on their jigs or spinnerbaits? I bought a lot of 100 skirts and in not really happy with the colors or material.its a tinsel type(non stretch) material and the colors are shimmery black(almost like a dark blue),red and blue, and orange and brown.

I thought of maybe adding these colors skirts to some more traditional color skirts to add some accents.

Good idea? Or will the extra skirt material be too bulky?

Putting an extra skirt on a jig adds bulk which slow the Rate Of Fall which is often the key to getting bite.

x2.

You could also pull strands off the tinsel type skirt and only use part of it.

At times I'll add an extra skirt to a spinnerbait when night fishing or during the pre-spawn to increase the size of of the profile.

And, like Catt, I'll sometimes add an extra skirt to a jig when I want slow the fall rate.
