Look What They Found In Our River!

Funny thing is, there is never much water in the river, in lots of places you can cross and never get in over your knees, just a few deep pools like this one.

You need to find that hole and start catching some cats. Sturgeon are neat fish, here on the Mississippi they get HUGE. I have snagged a few walleye fishing. I know a few people that gill net up here and they get ones as big as there boats.  Its amazing that they can thrive in such a shallow habitat.

That was a very cool report. Great potential in that river! Could use a bit more water, though, eh?

Shovelnose are neat fish. They hit like a freight train and fight like a wet sock though. There's quite a few of them in the Kansas, Missouri, and Big Blue rivers around here. I've only caught a few because I rarely fish with what they really seem to like to eat, nightcrawlers. The ones I've caught have been on smaller chunks of shad, usually during cooler water times. They're really bony and hard to hold onto when they start flopping.
