Help, Need To Find A Rod!

Featured Replies

Hey guys! Im looking to get a casting rod for my new bionic plus reel! im looking for something for mainly spinners, frogs, crankbaits and Jigs. what rod and line would you recommend? im looking to spend under $100, or a little over thanks!

You are asking a lot for one rod when you threw crankbaits into the equation.  The other techniques could be handled by a MH or H...Fast or XF, but the crankbaits will require a bit more forgiving rod.  I often use a MF for crankbaits, but wouldn't consider such a rod suitable for frogs or most jigs in the sizes I use.  Actually a lot of the spinnerbaits I use are 1/2 oz. or larger, and therefore I wouldn't feel comfortable using a MF for that either although I've been known to throw 3/8 oz. or less on a MF.

You also have to take into account the type of cover you normally fish in.  I assume being from Georgia that you probably will be fishing in some heavy weeds at times.  Course I've never fished in Georgia, so I am only guessing.

One of the rods I want to get this year is the 6' 10" MH-MF Fenwick Smallmouth based on the ravings of a friend.  Any rod you get will be a compromise for at least one of those techniques.  From what Dan tells me, this rod may be as good a compromise as any.

Just go with the MH 7' Bionic combo.
