Dobyns Saavy 766Flip

Featured Replies

Has anyone used this rod? I am getting it or a 736c champion. I have a 735c and want a heavier flipping stick for punching / heavy cover. I rarely punch but I want a " backup" jig rod.

the 736 is a pretty stout rod but not the option I'd use for punching. The champ 766 is a great punching rod and is just flat out a beast. i'd assume the savvy 766 is pretty on par. i'd get the savvy 766 over the champ 736 for punching but i'd get the champ 766 over the savvy 766.

736 good for regular flipping/pitching applications. I fish the midwest and punching is rare. Id rather throw a frog.

Not something most the guys I know do. Most of the lakes I fish dont have the type of pads I would punch. Mainly sparse grass or toulies that I toss a chaterbait intp.

I also fish midwest central IL and i do allot of punching.. I bought the 766C bought a 735 for frogs and i also have croix LTB 7.4 for frogs as well. Can never have to many rods.. Its only money you can make more..
