for those that hav this rod what applications do u use it for? i just picked one up. think its a bit light for t-rigs so i may get another rod for that but to those that hav used this rod what type of baits does it handle best?

I have used mine for almost everything 

right now im using it mostly for t-rigs. havent fished any cover yet. seems like it has plenty of backbone. i did just pass on a deal on a 684 tho. i almost swiped it up but told myself not to that the 683 should handle things well enough. has anyone owned both of these? is the 684 a better rod for weighted worms?

I have the endurance in 683 and this is my sentiment as well. It's generally my go to for frogs and sprinnerbaits though.

The 683 is an awesome rod at its price point and can do many things well.  I have the original Powell Max 683c and it works well with Senkos, and t-rigs.  Also, as a lighter medium-heavy rod, it woks well with deep crankbaits, jerkbaits, and spinnerbaits, though the length could be longer to allow for longer casts.  The 683 hasn't changed a great deal since Tackletour first posted its original review in the link below.  They even tested it with a swimbait.

thats one reason i got one after i read that review. i hav a medium heavy cork shimano crucial and this powell rod is definitely a bit stouter

I bought the rod in 2006 based on that review as well.

I have the Max 683 spinning rod and I like it a lot for t-rigs, finesse jigs, shakeyheads, Senko's, and many more. It's a very nice spinning rod so I'm sure the casting version is equally good for t-rigs.

Used to have it. I used it for topwaters.
