Heres A First.

Featured Replies

While at Okeechobee A Hybrid Sunshine Bass cross between a Striper and a white bass hammered a trap this weekend, she was ripping out drag like crazy I thought it was a catfish, I knew it wasn't a bass the way it fought.

I got two nice slabs off it and we ate it last night, man it was very good.

Notice the new 250 ProSX

Now we're cooking with grease.

Nice fish....So are these things stocked? I never heard of them before here in FL, pardon my ignorance.

I know there are Stripers in the St. Johns and FWC stocks a few lakes with them.

It even looks delicious!

Looks like some good fillets!

Very cool. Heck of a surprise to stick one of those on Okeechobee.

Fairly sure Osborne and Ida in west palm have sunshibe bass in them.

Funny you said that I rarely keep fish but this thing didn't even smell like fish. Thats why I tried it. Plus they're basically put in to harvest.

I've never seen one of those anywhere down here.  Solid fish either way though.

They are very good to eat.  They are stocked by the FWC as a harvest crop because they will not reproduce.  They are normally caught on catfish baits like chicken livers.

The FWC stocked over 600,000 fingerlings last year.

What exactly is a harvest crop?

Fished you catch and eat!

I've heard of them up to 20 lbs in some of the deeper lakes in Winter Haven.  The FWC regularly stocks them in Medard Reservior and I have caught a few small ones on beetle spins while fishing for specs.
