Pflueger Arbor Vs President

Featured Replies

I'm looking to put together an "all around" bass fishing combo.  I almost picked up a Pflueger President 6930 (reel only) yesterday on sale for $59.00.  Today I just found a Pflueger Arbor combo for $39.99 (reel alone is regularly $89.00).  Does anyone have any thoughts on the Arbor?  I think the arbor is a size 50.....too big for Minnesota bass?? How does the Arbor compare to the President?

thanks for your help

That reel in a 50 size I think is going to be on the huge size especially for bass. Personally I'd look for something smaller. I've heard the President is a great value.

I have an arbor 50, way too much for bass fishing.  Don't recall the line capacity but it's fairly significant, 25 # max drag and weighs 12 oz, been an outstanding performer for what I use it for. 30 size is a much better for bass.

I might be interested in that combo, I'd like another arbor 50.

Yea I figured it would be too big......I'm not sure if you have Fleet Farm by you but you can also get it online

Both the arbor and president are solid reels, especially for their price range. I don't think you can go wrong. The Arbor would probably be better if you plan on using braid

Not sure on the arbor, but I have the president in the spinning model and love it. Its a great budget reel. I have the older model with wooden handle, and it's still kicken to this day.

I have the pflueger president 6930 and it is my favorite spinning reel, I use 20 lb power pro super slick on it and it works great.

Arbor is nice, that size seems excessive unless your going for thick braid. President is probably my favorite spinning reel of all time for the $$$. I've used it for every type of application and caught salmon and pike on it with no issues. Drag is smooth and it casts a mile. Only probably is  I didn't buy them soon enough.
