Saving Up To Get My First Boat...any Suggestions.

Featured Replies

I mainly fish Rivers around my area. Savannah River, Cumbie, Edisto, and possibly may try out some small lakes. I am beginning to save up to buy my first boat. Possibly looking at a jonboat or something similar. I have a family of 5 (my wife and I and three kids ages 8,6,5). Wife wont go fishing much, but she may ride on the boat for fun.

Anyways looking for something to handle what I am needing. I am planning on saving up and paying Cash, possibly looking around $3-4,000 so it will be a used one more than likely. Any reocmmendations? Have been looking at Alumacraft and War Eagle. New to the differant designs and brands of boats to look for. A buddy recommended a 16 footer with a 25 HP Yamaha or Mercury.

get a wide a boat as possible. minimum 48" in the floor. that is the narrowest that is recommended for decking.

i would go jap on the outboard.
