I just spooled my shimano stradic fj up with some 10lb braided line. I plan to use it for finesse fishing with an 8lb leader. My question is, how do I go about setting my drag. Do I need to loosen the drag because the line has no stretch?

Set your drag for the leader being used. So I'd set it at 3lbs which is about a 1/3 of your leader.

Set it like you would if the reel was entirely spooled with 8 lb line

Set the drag to accomplish the task and catch the fish.
