Fish Aren't Biting Anything!

Featured Replies

I fish two local lakes and have only had luck on one. And the fish that I caught were bluegill and a super small smallmouth. I've thrown everything. The first lake has structure like trees and stuff like that. The second lake is Lake Michigan and the area I fish is rocky with a dropoff. I've literally tried everything. Could the reason of them not biting be because of my color choice? I have no idea what to throw at this point. Any suggestions? Thanks guys!

Uh.. The kitchen sink? Idk.... There are those days where we just can't get bit.... Use a 7" worm

I have even used 4" straight or ribbon and got bit

Also..... Throwing a 1/8 oz roadrunner can liven things up for ya... The fish maybe in another area.

Has this place produced in the past? If so don't give up... If not try other areas too.. Giving the other locations a few days... Cycle out you're spots... It can be frustrating, to be sure! Keep at it. Eventually you will hook up! Good luck!

Sounds like you are not finding fish. I would imagine they should be moving up to spawn soon. I would try around those areas.

What is water temp?

45-52 I believe.

Give us an idea of what you are throwing (and how) and maybe we can suggest something else to try.

If it's still cold the fish are in the northern most part of the body that gets the most Sun during the day.

When in doubt and nothing else is working throw chartreuse. I believe the conditions we see at the surface can be different as it gets deeper. This is hard for any shore or boat fisherman.

So on average, you're saying at 7 fish per hour?

That's far from not getting bit...if you're catching bluegill on 3" tubes... They must be quite large.

Sounds to me like you're doing fine , water temp will being getter warmer everyday... Fish at the warmest hour of the day in the rocky/ sandy areas

probably get bit more at that time.

When all else fails, fish a senko or a drop shot and if you cant get something to bite that go home.

I didn't get 14 fish in 2 hours. My buddy did on tubes. And I was catching a few bluegill on the smaller lake using small shad raps. I wish I was catching 7 fish an hour. Lol

I've been out 5 times and not even a bite so your not alone, it is getting frustrating to say the least

Where are you fishing?

Centennial park, wolf lake, and ceder lake in indiana

It happens. I went through a spell that just so happened to end today. I fish every day and had one 12" largemouth to show for it on water that is known for smallies over the last several days. Today I had 29 legal (14"+) smallmouths in 2 hours. Sometimes you just gotta wait them out, sometimes there is a magical temp that once you pass that, everything just turns on. Remember water temperature is very important in the spring.

29?! Dang. I can't wait till I get my kayak so I can go to the coves and catch lunkers.

My mentor, my older brother said to keep going and sooner or later they would turn on. We fish from shore. But I challenge myself on every trip to catch more. I think catching an average of nine bass per outing wasn't bad. Due to my health my time is limited. Sometimes an hour or two+ lately. I fish non stop till the pain gets so bad I can't stand. Right now I can't stand at all.

My doctors figured it out. I need to strengthen my inner core muscles. To my bass fishing friends it sounds like "I'll be back soon" I'm ready for the best bass fishing of my life with no or less pain I'm golden.

I couldn't imagine not being able to fish. The only injuries I have are my knees. I'm only 17 but I have the knees of a 50 year old.
