Spinning Reel Help

Featured Replies

I have an old Pflueger president spinning reel I let my girlfriend fish with whenever she goes with me. It's been a great reel up until now, and has always been good to me.

She was tossing a trick worm today, and about halfway through our trip, after a cast, the bail arm just went limp and will not engage. Iv never worked on a spinning reel and have no clue where to start. Anyone ever had an experience like this, and could maybe talk me through fixing it?

Do you still have the manual? Take the bail apart maybe the spring broke of fell out of place

I wish I did. The reel is pretty old, and Im sure the manual got thrown away at some point in time. I could probably find one online. Ill do a search tomorrow.

yep. that's your best bet, manuals are extremely helpful and come in handy. Also search on-line if other people even had the same problem or look for videos on YouTube on taking apart that reel

Normally the manufacturer has the parts list and schematics available online.

It has served it's purpose.  Just buy a new reel for her.

If it's any more than a spring a president is a disposable reel.  IMO it doesn't pay to put too much effort into it, a new one is around 60 bucks.
