I found a used pflueger president. The only issue is that it was missing its handle. I currently own the pflueger trion GX7; which uses the same handle. So until the handle arrived I just swapped them according to which reel I felt like using. The handle that I purchased for the president looks exactly like the handle recommended; except that it is wooden instead of rubber. Here's the recommended handle: http://www.ereplacementparts.com/handle-assy-p-1585753.html. Notice that the connecting ends are different on each. What am I doing wrong (or missing) that it won't connect correctly? Will I harm the president if I purchase a Trion GX 7 handle for it? Thank you for the help. I'm lost when it comes to the mechanics of reels.

They aren't the same handle. One screws into the gear shaft and the other is held on on the bolt threads on the cap on the opposite side. Try swapping side caps. 

I removed the cap (from the opposite side), but nothing is able to be moved. The "recommended handle" won't fit the entire way in. Here are two pictures. The first picture is w/o the handle and the second is w/ the "recommended" handle. I feel like I'm missing a nut or something. What I don't understand is how a completely different handle works, but the recommended handle will not work, what am I doing wrong?

If you have a threaded handle you have to hold the rotor and screw the handle into the gear (assuming it is threaded to accept the handle)

What size is the reel? If you get on eBay at all, message the seller below. They typically carry a large stock of Pflueger reel parts.
