Where Do You Find The Bulbous Rod Balancers That The Pro's Use?

I've seen some fishing shows where the pro's have a round, bulbous fishing rod balancer. However, I've never seen this balancer sold anywhere. Does anyone here use them and if so, where do you find them for sale?

Are you talking about that giant foam monstrosity Shaw Grisby and Roland Martin are using on their shows? Or.... the Larry Dahlberg rod balancer butt cap with the interchangeable weights? The balancer used to be available at bass pro. But considering Dahlberg's new sponsorship with Mud Hole, it probably will be available only there soon.

it's called "cush-it" and made by luna sea. i think more than balance, it will keep your rod afloat if you drop it overboard. i dunno...hurts my eyes every time i see ol' shaw fishing with those things on major league fishing.

Sometimes I think Shaw Grigsby might have gone off the deep end lol

I had a couple of these a several years ago from Bass Pro. Came with several weights you just put in the butt cap and screw it on your rod, back then the ones I had were made of course for the Bass Pro rods which had threaded inserts to screw the cap on with. Thought I saw some newer ones that could just slip over the butt of any rod without screwing it on.

Just found the one I had here's what it looks like. You can do the same thing with just a butt cap and a few quarters.

If you aren't concerned about appearance, anything you can do with the BPS balancer kit you can do with generic chair leg tips and quarters and duct tape.  Once upon a time, I sought to make a balancer attachment more permanent and so I used that rubber stuff that you dip pliers handles into and I sealed the rod end with that.   Mixed results.
