playmaker47 Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 I make my own spinnerbaits from the already pre molded and pre painted forms from cabelas. Then i get some blades a skirts and mix and match colors. Im not really sure if they save that much money making them yourself but i know that the hastle is alot more than just buying some. what do you guys think about hts Quote
Chris Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 There are cheaper places to get components and have a wider selection than that place. Try Janns Netcraft or Stamina. Quote
VTbasskid16 Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 I am hopefully going to do this soon. I'm going to buy from Barlowstackle.com. A great store from texas That sell frames in 3 or 10+ packs. I bought a 50 skirt kit from Janns. I think it will be worth the hassle, it will be fun making my own baits while the lakes are frozen. I like to keep my tackle kind of uniform so now all my spinnerbaits will be simple/uniform looking. I can't wait till i catch fish on a bait i made myself. Quote
Will Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 Do you make your own skirts also? I have a little kit I take to big tournaments in case the boater has a color thats working and I don't have it I can make a couple the night before. Quote

You may not save money, but if you enjoy the hobby and get a big charge out of catching something on a lure of your own making, then go for it. Otherwise, you might as well just buy what you need off the shelf. Quote
D.Taylor Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 I used to make my own spinner baits. It is fun forawhile but the amount of stuff you need to keep up is a pain. White, silver, blue, black, chartruce, red, orange, brown, and mirage skirt colors, tinsel blades in all shapes sizes and colors its actually a huge investment for me since I match spinner baits to the conditions im faceing. I firmly believe skirt color on a spinner bait is as important as blades Quote
