  1. I live in Vermont, its pretty far north. If your lake is anthing like Champlain with endless milfoil weed beds, spinnerbaiting is a must. Tubes/spider grubs are a good go to lure for smallies with less grass . rig on a jig head from 1/8 to 3/8. i'm guessing the water is clear and of course, weightless wacky worms (senkos) and C- rigging
  2. Kicker Fish has some original designs that are good. Robo worms are origional too.
  3. Alright, I use a green pumpkin jig (yum chunk) a lot on my clear home waters. There is a lot of floating timber and sunken timber and a lot of Milfoil--covers the bottom. We have caught many and big bass out of here by leaving the jig in the same place for a while. This is obviosly imitating a craw but there are weeds all around on a mud bottom. Are there crayfish living among weeds?? I though they lived in rocks and rip rap?? Whats the deal here, Why am i catching fish??
  4. I usually texpose mine in regular water BUT I have caught some money fish by using 3/16oz pegged weight and a flippin tube and drop it into isolated Milfoil patches. When I fish this way or though wood I will Leave the hook in the body cavity. I know its completely weedless . I use 10lb test on a med spin rod for this and have always hooked them.
  5. I started with new gas and new plugs and carb cleaner and starting fluid. All i could get it to do is fire 1/10 pulls. I think it may be ignition, its baffling, it has like 40 hours on it and everything is in exc cond. so i'm taking it to a marina monday.
  6. I put fogger in my 6hp out board last October and stored it. I put the gas tank in the shed. I Tried it last week and couldn't get it to run. It would occasionally cough. I mixed in fresh 93 octane with oil into the tank with the old gas now it won't even cough! I heard that gas can break down an that i should have stabilized it, but why did new gas make it worse??? The old gas may have been 87-89 octane would that make a difference???? What do i do to get it to run??? start over/new tank??? please help!
  7. My tires are rated for 90 psi As long as your tires aren't too low when loaded down 50 psi is fine, it might extend the life of your tires. more air for more weight
  8. Its because of spawning. Up here on certain lakes, you can fish from 2nd sat. in april to june something, but it has to be catch and release to help retain the bass poulation. In that time period the bass are spawning and can become vulnerable to over fishing
  9. George Cochran, David Fritts, Frank Scalish, Don Iovino, Mike Del Visco, Mark Menendez from bassmaster university in Albany NY
  10. You can twist an article any way you want. I really like him. He's funny and energetic. Its great to see a pro win the BMC from far north as New Jersey! I also like how he says feet instead of foot. Cool guy, check his site out: It was newly readone and looks great. http://www.mikeiaconelli.com/
  11. www.barlowstackle.com I just bought $67 from them. They sell blades as low a 10 in a pack where Janns sells 25. They have good prices.
  12. I just bought Kevin Van Dams Bass Strategies. It is VERY good. He trashes myths and commom miconseptions.simplifies things and gets your head on straight. Its only $15 and well worth it. I also heard his other book was very good.
  13. here check this out: http://bassresource.com/beginner/plastic_worms.html You can read more articles "for beginning anglers" A texas rig or T-rig uses a slip sinker above the hook. Some times the sinker is pegged with a tooth pick for heavy cover. t-rigs are usually fished on the bottom but can be swum(?)
  14. Gamagaktsu are the greatest, always sharp, no roll overs, no rust! You are off to a good start! keep on the forums and read the articles and you will have some fun!!!
  15. I was on the Conn. River last october and the water was really cold. I ended up catching 4 smallmouth while dragging a tube on a 1/8 jig head. Now this was really slowww. I set my two rods up and let the boat drift with the current (slow) and sometimes against it (wind). Sometimes I didn't even move. I sat back and enjoyed the view and ate, and i noticed the line slowly moving away. i'm no expert but i would say bundle up, bring some food/music and drift around while gragging some plastics. If at all, you will learn what Doesn't work.
  16. The truth is that air and more specifically sound waves are not dense enough to penetrate water very far or at all. As far a jumping up and down in your boat, then yes, the vibration transmits right throught your hull. The further sound waves travel the more they dissapate in water and air. So having a 14" sub woofer in shallow water might not be great but they can't hear it 50 feet down.So far i haven't listened music on the water just the drive to get me pumped up. I won't listen when seriously fishing (tourney) but it will be fun when just practicing. (4" speakers)
  17. When ever i can, I listen to AC/DC on the drive to and back! I love AC/DC!!!!!I'm getting a tape layer in my boat this year so i can crank tunes when i'm over deep water.
  18. These guys have it on the nose. Some baits you could try: A floating worm, slugo, senko. These can go anywhere and can get into those holes. They are also very different then a jig. If he misses one, these make great follow up baits.
  19. You guys wouldnt happen to have a Coleman Crawdad for a boat would you?
  20. jerkabaits seem like a good deal. Go for small ones. You may have to leave it there for a long time. I have heard on leaving a senko for up to 3minutes. Sometimes a bass doesn't like it in there terrritory and will get annoyed and eat it. It must be small so the bass wont get scared. A small popper with Feathers,( not bucktails) can invoke a reation strike. If one misses it, leave it there until the ripples die away then give it one pop. The feathers will pulsate in the ripples and the popper will sway.
  21. Cabelas has a Tackle logic soft tackle bag on sale for $25. It has 8 boxes (the small one). I need to upgrade from my plano 6 tray. Is this a good investment? Is there enough room? Is it durable?
  22. Is anyone going to The Bassmaster University in Albany 19+20th? I'm looking to share a hotel with someone because i can't check in a hotel because i'm not 21. Please help, I don't want to drive both days.
  23. I'm in it and can't seem to drop or add new anglers after the tourney? any help?
  24. enjoy.... ~Fishing with out A license~ A man is walking from the lake carrying two fish in a bucket. He is approached by the Game Warden who asks him for his fishing license. The fisherman says to the warden, " I did not catch these fish, they are my pets. Every day I come down to the water and whistle and these fish jump out and I take them around to see the sights only to return them at the end of the day" The Warden, not believeing him, reminds him that is illegal to fish with out a license. The fisherman turns to the warden and says, " If you don't believe then watch," as he throws the fish back in the water. The Warden says, "Now whistle to your fish and show me that they will come out of the water." The fisherman turns to the warden and says " What fish?" Taken from the Deerfield Valley Sportsman Club Ice fishing derby by the Deerfield Valley News. Feb 5&6 2005. Whitingham, VT Please don't try this, respect the Fish & Wildlife.
  25. Here in Vermont its $8 for junior and $20 for adult. I think it is really worth it. The amount of stocking that the state does is incredible. I have even helped stock 1100 rainbow trout into a river. The state provides boat ramps, fish, and maintains lakes.
