Ok I know this subject has been mulled over and over , Looking for opinions on what's a good low profile reel for 1-5 oz (mostly mattlures baby gills) swim baits  .. As always opinions are greatly appreciated .. I like Lews and Shimanos..............Thanks

Shimano Curado 300E gets some good reviews.

Hands down Shimano 300E or D @ 10.2 oz it's a powerful reel... 29 IPT.. It is quick too.. Big gear, big pinion... It's a very well designed and reliable reel.... Reel in 10xd as well... Also Alabama rigs etc.. List goes on....

Since you put low profile my vote is out of question with the Shimano Calcutta

I'd give another vote for the curado 300E

My curado 300e is sweet for throwing the same sized swim baits you listed, paired with the okuma guide select swimbait rod MH very nice pair

I've fished musky size baits for many years with the "round" reels. Why are you so focused on a low profile model? An Ambassadeur 6500-C is hard to beat when casting all day long and needing power when it counts. Bullet proof and cost effective. JMO.

Super duty all the way it is an awesome reel and was designed for that purpose. i use mine for it and have no problems

another vote for curado 300

I would not only look at the Lew's Super Duty but the Lew's BB2Z is probably more suited, the Shimano Curado 300E is great but is quite a bit larger. Those would be the reels I would choose from. On the right rod any of these would be great choices.

+1 on the BB-2Z. I have it on my Okuma swimbait rod & could not be happier.
