My dad and I were out fishing tonight on an electric only lake and were on our way back to the ramp running the motor on 100 and it went pop and cut off after feeling the foot pedal it was warm and the motor itself was warm. The water was 88 degrees also so that may have contributed to the heat. Any ideas on what happened?

If you have something close to a 60 amp Breaker between the battery and the motor (And I hope you do) you may have tripped it.

If not, you may have just fried something.

It would be pretty close to the battery..... Depending on the type of boat it could be built in.

Andrew if you could describe your boat's set up - I'm certain someone here will be able to shed some light on your situation.

Things like what type of boat, motor, trolling motor and electrical system you have including your battery / electrical arrangement - will all help.

Thanks for the help A-Jay.  Our breaker was tripped.  Reset and we are back in business.
