Minn Kota Talon Scratchng Bottom?? Ok?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I just installed two 10' minn kota talons on my Nitro and i'm fishing water with current, first thing I noticed when I deployed the talon for the first time is that when in current and hitting solid bottom it kinda scratches the bottom making those scarry noise before in get in position, is this ok? Is the talon solid enough ??? its almost impossible to get the boat not to move before deploying

Let me know!

I've seen videos of people driving their boats around with their Power Poles scraping the bottom to show how durable they are. Not sure I'd do it with Talons though. I'd google their videos perhaps.

Yes, it's okay to have them "dig" as your boat gets into position. Both Talons and PowerPole's are strong enough to withstand some punishment. I wouldn't get all crazy...but I think you'll be safe.

Ya its fine. If it hits a rock it will scrape along it until it either slips between them or hits soft bottom. It can scare the **** out of you if you arent expecting it though

Well after experiencing them for a few weeks now, im confident in them, they are very solid, they scrape the bottom and make scary noises but they are tough as hell! LOVE THE NEW TALONS!

There are videos online of people hitting them with sledge hammers.
