Is It Time To Throw The Hollow Body's Yet?

Featured Replies

I cant seem to put my frogs down lately fishing from the bank they have been awesome to me. Any tips and pointers. On the spro frogs I can't seem to bend out the hooks or i don't feel like I am and help/tips?

Very your retrieve. Don't just walk them slow. I had luck over the weekend burning my hollow body frog on top of a scum mat almost like a buzzbait.  I don't bend the hooks out anymore. After the strike pause a second, when you can't see the frog anymore set the hook hard and hold on.

Caught some fish on a Spro Popping frog last week. I bent the hooks up slightly with my needlenose and it made a huge difference in the hookup ratio.

I've actually swapped out all my spro frogs for the Iobee frog. As the hookup ratio to me personally, is greater.

I put some work in on the fish a couple weeks ago throwing pad crashers. As for bending the hooks on the spro frogs they are pretty heavy duty. Needlenose might not be up to the task. You would be better of using a pair of linemans or something along those lines. Spro are the only frogs I ever bent out. I use koppers now a days and they are plenty soft so there is no issue. The pad crashers are basically a rip off of the koppers they feel exactly the same.

The Spro is just too stiff for my liking.

Koppers and the little ol Scum frog are all I use. No need to pull the hooks.

I've not touched a hook on a Spro since I started using them about 4-5 years ago.  Most of the fish I catch are hooked very solid on the roof of the mouth.  Maybe I'm just lucky.  Don't know.  LOL.   So far this year, I've been throwing a Bronze Eye Shad exclusively.  Walks the dog great in open water and comes over slop easily.  One feature I really like about the shad is that it seems to sit lower in the water vs a frog.  Also like how it floats level vs tail down and nose up.  I'm thinking that the lower profile of the shad, as it sits in the water, MIGHT make it a little easier for the bass to get the bait good too.  Tom

I caught a 4lber on my koppers frog yesterday evening. I want to get a popping frog, black, just like bluebasser. Also don't overlook mouse imitations.

Me either and I've never had any trouble hooking and landing my fish. Spro is my favorite brand so I have more of them than any others and I've never once gotten a "bad" bait that doesn't hook fish.
