I have an old spinning rod with cork handles, but in places the cork is chipped out. Is there anything to do to repair this or fill the holes?

I have seen it done with regular wood filler, let it dry, lightly sand it to remove excess and seal it.  Looks good as new.

Ive used wine corks and sanded them to turn them into powder and mixed with elmers glue. Fill in imperfections then sand until smooth and use sealer. Still going strong after a year of pretty heavy use but i dont know for sure how long it will last

Exactly the same stuff I use. Works great.

It would work perfectly, you will impress yourself with how nice it will turn out.  Make sure you seal the cork when finished, it will help keep the filler from coming loose.
