Earthworm77 - re your "Chatterbait"

Featured Replies

Earthworm - I read with interest your post about making a brass chatterbait.

I was wondering if you could explain how you attach the "blade" to the jig. I think you posted that you don't use a split ring and that has me confused.

I want to try making some small ones for smallmouth bass - but I am confused about how you attach the blade to the jig.

Thanks so much for any and all assistance.

I have to say that although this bait is called a Chatterbait knock off, it really is quite different.

I use a duo lock snap. It keeps the line tie and the hook eye inline and prevents any leverage and the blade will not collapse into the hook point.

i have made some home made chatterbaits but i have attached the blade to the eye of the jig by taking a nail and putting it in the eye of the jig and tapping it with a hammer until the eye of the jig opens then put blade on the squeeze eye shut with a pair of pliers blade still has plenty of movement and vibration and works very well just giving you some other options

what i don't understand is how someone can take credit for this..dude when you buy "eaker shakers" they come in a little package...on the back of the package it clearly states to use them in conjunction with a bunch of lures, including jigs. so what gives.

senko,

I believe the shaker's were the original's.  Chatterbaits are a company making shaker's.  I could be wrong, and I don't want to start a war.  If wrong, those in the know I'm sure will be there to dispute.
