I know it needs to be heavy power for both rods but can I get a fast action 7' rod for both jobs?

Dean Rojas (the frog man himself) said in many of his videos that he likes a soft tip transitioning fast into a MH backbone.

 

Sounds like the exact opposite of a punching rod, where you want a stiff tip for fishing 1-3oz weights leading into a H or XH backbone.

Punching I want Heavy(or extra heavy depending on the rod company) and a Mod Fast/Fast tip . I do not like XF for punching. 

 

You can get by i suppose /w a 7'HF depending on the rod but I prefer a longer rod for both techniques. Primarily punching. 

People use dean as an example but you have to figure that he uses his frogs mostly in open water where he can walk them. This doesn't require a heavy heavy rod as opposed to thick mats and heavy vegetation where a longer extra heavy rod is preferred. In open water I can use a lighter rod and lighter braid no problem as the fishing digging into weeds isn't a problem. When I'm fishing heavy weeds, it's 65lb braid and my dx 746

I use a Denali Kovert for punching 7'8 Extra Heavy Fast and a Denali Rosewood for frogging 6'10 Heavy Mod Fast

If you're going to use a rod for punching and for frogs, make it one rod 7'6" or over.  Learn to fish with it and cast with it once you start getting bites you'll be happy you bought a longer rod.

I use a MH/F for both with no problems.

Lots of big bass have the hooks torn out of them with braid and an xf rod.

I've landed far more fish punching with a rod that has a more parabolic action to it. Generally speaking, the longer the rod, the more parabolic it'll be. That's not "always" true though. I've got an older Crucial flipping stick that I just can't get rid of because it's got such a sweet action for flipping and punching grass.

OP- I've been punching the last few years with a 7'h rod that I also threw frogs with. It worked fine for both- but not excellent for either. I think if the mats youre frogging and punhing can be described as "moderate", then youll be fine. That leads me to add to the OPs question here- I recently got a 7'11" veritas and haven't taken it out yet. Will this rod be a bit too stiff with braid? I'm punching some serious stuff here in Fla.
